I like lists, so here I go:
#1 School is still going well. New student arriving tomorrow.
#2
Shell - Put in 2 weeks notice last Saturday. Very excited. The job
served a purpose and now I no longer need it. Haven't wanted it for a
while now. Too much BS and pettiness. ("You pointed out a mistake I
made?! How dare you! No hours for you next week!")
#2.5 The
owner is no longer selling Shell gas, so he's going to change the name.
We suggested he just drop the 'S' and we'll say we work in Hell. It
would be great giving directions. "Go to Hell and make a left" "Go to
Hell... and bring me back some milk.
#3 Knitting is still fun. It will be even more fun once I get my interchangeable needle kit.
#4 I love The Office. It is my new obsession and I want to go work at Dunder Mifflin.
#5 This year I'll be 'working for The Man' at H&R Block.
#6
Last weekend I went to Zern's. Haven't been there in almost a year. We petted kitten at
Zimmer's, then the boys went one way, and the ladies went the other.
The evening was complete when I found the little Chinese man who sells
socks. Need I say more?
And that is really all that's going on right now. Thrilling, yes?

| Yesterday went very well. When the pumpkins were done in the oven I drove over to the farm. Where Grama and I quickly discovered that it wasn't cooked enough. I was able to scrape out enough cooked pumpkin to make one pie, and while that pie was cooking, she showed me how to peel the pumpkin and cook it on top of the stove. When that was done, we found out that I had bought two pumpkins that made enough puree for 4 pies. So we did what any sensible person would do: dug out another recipe and made another pie. The rest of the puree is sitting pretty in the freezer, and I'll probably use it up sometime closer to Thanksgiving or Christmas.

| This morning I have a hot date with my Grama to do some baking. In the past year or so... actually ever since living in China... I have tried to do more baking and cooking from scratch. No canned or boxed mixes (unless time is short) and more fresh ingredients. I've always wanted to make a pumpkin pie from scratch. So, as I type, there are two pumpkins baking in the oven. Once the meat of the pumpkin is soft I'm heading over to the farm and we're going to make the puree and 35-40 minutes later we will have homemade pie. Well, not entirely homemade... the pie is a Pillsbury crust that you just lay out in the pan. One step at a time, people.

| Last night was the third performance of 'La Boheme' and it was the first one at the Women's Club in Reading. It went very well last night. The space is much bigger than the space in Reading, the acoustics are amazing, and we had a decent sized stage. Here is a link to the article the Reading Eagle did about the Berks Opera Workshop. Carrie called yesterday at 4-ish to tell me she and Jason would be coming to watch. That news made me do a little happy dance in the kitchen.
The last performance is tomorrow at 2. Kelly, Erin, and Trout will be arriving this afternoon. We'll have some bongo-bongo chicken for dinner tonight and a delicious breakfast is planned for tomorrow morning.

| 1) Tonight we are starting full dress rehearsal for the opera. First performance is this Friday night! There is one entrance I keep missing, and one note that I have trouble finding. Other than that, all is well!
2) This is the last week of ESY. I can't believe how fast this summer has gone. I'm taking off the last week of August so that I have some kind of 'vacation' before school starts again.
3) I'm working on some letter-writing. They should be mailed out before this weekend.
That's all that is happening in my little world right now.
